From our experience we always use galvanized metal stud framing as metal stud framing has long lasting strength. Wood over many years can absorb water and mold and is not ideal for basements that have the potential to flood. Strength is essential in any basement wall system, and our product comes with heavy duty framing.

For insulation purposes we use cell closed spray foam in place of traditional fiberglass insulation. Fiberglass insulation can over time get moldy, absorb the humidity from the air, and can soak up the water from a flood. Spray foam insulation is a very effective type of insulation that you can use for nearly any installation and application. When installed, this creates an incredibly stable and efficient insulation. With two pound density spray foam, you get a continuous vapor and thermal barrier that protects your space from water and temperature changes. Cell closed insulation has a long lifespan, acts as both a vapor and air barrier, and is even listed as a flood resistant material by FEMA. It is very stable and has a very high R-value.

We always use gypsum that is water and mold resistant. The moisture resistance prevents mold and mildew from forming.

We recommend that all cracks and leaks be repaired before you start the basement remodeling process.
